THE SCHOLARS PROGRAM has provided me an opportunity to explore the impact of the physical and social environments on children’s growth and development. The program has afforded me access to outstanding opportunities for learning and growth, including training in risk assessment and risk communication, as well as guidance to help launch the Western NY Children’s Environmental Health Center. As an EH Scholar I have worked with community-based organizations, improved my database and evaluation skills, and collaborated with experts to maximize the impact of our social media to build awareness about children’s environmental health and the NYSCHECK. This program has helped support my professional endeavors in becoming an environmental health advocate to help create a healthy environment for all families.
