When I started my Pulmonology rotation as a medical student in September, I immediately became aware of just how bad the vaping crisis had become. We had high-school and middle-school telling us that they had been using e-cigarettes almost every day for months, because their friends did it too. They enjoyed the flavors and didn’t want to give up the habit. So, when I first got wind of bans for flavored cartridges, I wanted to support the medical professionals and parents who were trying to protect their kids. At the town hall meetings I attended, I was astounded to hear business owners look out for their profits over the futures of the younger generation. Thankfully, the decisions were in our favor. I sincerely hope that we will continue heading in the right direction!
